I don’t have time to write a detailed review right now, but I just had to tell the world (AKA the 6 people that read this blog) – that FogBugz 6.0 kicks the ever-loving-crap out of JIRA. JIRA looks like a poorly made web-toy from 1997 compared to the responsive, rich, intuitive, friendly, and dare I say downright brilliant user experience provided by FogBugz. I’ve used JIRA on several projects over the past 4 years, but I can say that after two days of using FogBugz 6.0 – there is no competition as to which is superior.

Shameless plug follows:
I’m the author of a free open source issue tracker, “BugTracker.NET”, at http://ifdefined.com.
FogBugz has been my main inspiration, especially its simplicity, the way it integrates email, the way it displays images inline, and the screen capture utility.
And, with FogBugz version 6, the AJAX behavior. After playing with it, I had to go rewrite portions of my app just to maintain self-respect.
If you like FogBugz but want something free and/or open source, you might find that it’s worth giving BugTracker.NET a try. Also, BugTracker.NET is more configurable than FogBugz in some areas, if you feel to constrained by FogBugz anti-customization philosophy.
