Ever in progress is the large “summer trip home planning” – which thus far includes Jordan, Israel, Greece, Italy, Austria and Germany. Am I the only one that decides which hotels/hostels to stay in based on whether or not their web site sucks?
Indeed I sometimes baulk at the terrible photography, layout and early-90s stylings of some hotels/hostel websites.
However, when I stayed in the delightful Sibu Island Cabanas (http://sibuisland.com), the new owners told me the tale of trying to get access to their own site, hosted in a different country and provided with a ‘web designer’ who didn’t know one end of a mouse from another. His first day apparently. So even those trying to improve sometimes can’t!
Think the typical issues are cost and the not knowing what is good for them :-) Hotels, I guess, are like all clients, same same, but different.

Nope, not the only one.
It’s in the details, and if they can handle providing a decent website then they probably do an OK job at the essentials too.
